Dominating the scene is the 40-metres-high landmark, ‘Nelson’s Pillar’, erected in 1808.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.nationalgallery.ie/art-and-artists/highlights-collection/mindfulness-and-art/mindfulness-and-art-sackville-street” button_text=”See it at NGI” button_alignment=”center” admin_label=”Link to NGI” _builder_version=”4.4.8″ custom_button=”on” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color=”#e75225″][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”4.4.7″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.8″]

Mindfulness and Art: Aloes, South of France

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”http://motlti.ie/Portal/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/detail-1-leech-aloes.jpg” title_text=”detail-1-leech-aloes” show_in_lightbox=”on” _builder_version=”4.4.8″][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.8″ custom_margin=”||77px|||” custom_padding=”||0px|||”]

William John Leech (1881-1968), Aloes, South of France, c.1915/17

In the winters of 1915 and 1917, Irish artist Leech travelled to the fishing village Les Martiques, near Marseilles, to paint. Inspired by the decorative quality of the aloe plants that thrive there, he embarked on his Aloes series of oil paintings. The large scale of the paintings suggests they were executed in his studio in London, based on watercolour studies such as this, done on the spot. The influence of Post-Impressionism is evident in the artist’s heightened awareness of colour and rhythmic pattern.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.nationalgallery.ie/art-and-artists/highlights-collection/mindfulness-and-art/mindfulness-and-art-aloes-south-france” button_text=”See it at NGI” button_alignment=”center” admin_label=”Link to NGI” _builder_version=”4.4.8″ custom_button=”on” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color=”#e75225″][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”4.4.8″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.8″]

Mindfulness and Art:

The Virgin of Éire

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”http://motlti.ie/Portal/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/jellett-virgin-eire-fullsize.jpg” title_text=”jellett-virgin-eire-fullsize” show_in_lightbox=”on” _builder_version=”4.4.8″][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.8″ custom_margin=”||46px|||”]

Mainie Jellett (1897-1944), The Virgin of Éire, 1940s

Jellett trained in Dublin and London before moving to Paris in 1920.

There, with Evie Hone, she studied under André Lhote, an advocate of Cézanne’s analytical approach to painting, and Albert Gleizes, an established Cubist artist.

Inspired by their work, Jellett began to analyse rhythm, colour and form in her own work, while also drawing on long-standing pictorial traditions.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.nationalgallery.ie/art-and-artists/highlights-collection/mindfulness-and-art/mindfulness-and-art-virgin-eire” button_text=”See it at NGI” button_alignment=”center” admin_label=”Link to NGI” _builder_version=”4.4.8″ custom_button=”on” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color=”#e75225″ custom_margin=”12px||21px|||”][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

ICDLPIDPaintingDrawingComputer Basics Tutorial Microsoft Word Basics (v2016)Personal and Interpersonal Development courses on FutureLearnOnline Personal and Interpersonal Development CoursePersonal and Interpersonal Development courses on FutureLearn Virtual Tour National Archaeology MuseumNational Gallery of Ireland Catalogue Virtual Tour: National Gallery of IrelandICDL ResourcesWord 2010 @ TutorialspointWord 2010 Video Tutorialabc eBooks Word 2010Tutorials @ testtesttest.comElements in DrawingYou will probably find this activity […]

["post-2500","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
