Meath Opportunities for Training (MOT) is a Local Training Initiative that was set up in to assist people who are in recovery from an addiction. It is funded through the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB).

This award winning LMETB funded scheme began in 2004 to provide basic social and skills training for the participants of Tabor House and members of the community. In January 2007 the project was awarded an Aontas Star Award for best adult education programme in Leinster.

MOT works closely with the local Community Employment Schemes, Meath Jobs Club, LMETB and second and third level colleges in the Meath, Louth and Dublin areas and compliments the therapeutic milieu which is available to the residents in Tabor House, Navan, Co. Meath.

It employs a co-ordinator plus three part-time tutors.

Course Duration: The course at MOT is of 20 weeks duration.

Course Content:
Drawing, ICDL, Painting, Personal and Interpersonal Development.

While there is a good emphasis based on the practical skills to be learned, this course is delivered under the ethos of self-development and personal advancement.

All Modules are certified at QQI Level 4

Timetable:
Classes are run Monday – Friday from 9:30am to 2.00pm.

Entry to the course:

Priority will be given to male participants who are in recovery and attending Tabor House residential centre in Navan or who are connected to local addiction services.

Priority is given to persons that have been on the live register for longer periods of time, especially those on it over a year.

No formal education is required.

Objective

To assist unemployed men aged 20 to 35 years of age that are in recovery from addiction by providing accredited training programmes, advice and guidance that will support them in realizing their own potential.  To enhance the sustainability of their recovery through peer support, individual learning plans, care-planning and progression path planning.
